Four New Canon Cameras and a Lens
Canon announced several new cameras this week, with the new PowerShot G16 being the most advanced. It features a 12.1-megapixel 1/1.7" CMOS sensor, 5x optical zoom, a 35mm-equivalent 28-140mm f/1.8-2.8 lens, a DIGIC 6 image processor and built-in Wi-Fi. Also new from Canon this week is the PowerShot SX510 HS, which is an update to the SX500 IS. The new SX510 HS features the same "superzoom" capabilities, with an updated 12.1-megapixel High Sensitivity sensor and built-in Wi-Fi. The last new shooter from Canon is the PowerShot SX170 IS, a point-and-shoot with a 16-megapixel 1/2.3" CCD sensor, a 16x optical zoom, a handgrip and many other features. Canon also released the new EF-S 55-250mm f/4-5.6 IS STM lens featuring a silent stepping motor, which is preferred when shooting video. You can learn more about all of these new Canon cameras and the 55-250mm IS STM in this B&H InDepth article.
New Canon PIXMA Printers
Canon released two new all-in-one PIXMA inkjet printers this week: the MG7120 and the MG5520. Both new models feature wireless capabilities, and are available in black or white. The MG7120 has a maximum color print resolution of 9600 x 2400 dpi, and a scan resolution of 2400 x 4800 dpi. The MG5520 features a maximum color dpi of 4800 x 1200, and a scan resolution of 1200 x 2400 dpi. More information and specs are available in this B&H InDepth article.
The New Fujifilm Mini 90 Neoclassic Instax Camera
Fujifilm announced the new Mini 90 Neoclassic, which is a more feature-rich Instax camera with a robust build quality. When available, it will have a variety of shooting modes, various shooting speeds, and improved image quality over existing Instax cameras. More information is available on Fujifilm's Japanese website, however, it likely won't be available in the United States until Spring 2014.
New Wacom Tablets and the Intuos Stylus for iPad
This week, Wacom announced two new tablets, which are bona fide 'tablet' tablets. The new Cintiq Companion is a full-blown Windows 8 touch-controlled computer with a 13.3" full-HD display, an Intel Core i7 processor, 8GB of RAM, and a USB 3.0 port. It features the ability to add a second monitor and a Bluetooth keyboard. It comes with a stylus that's capable of 2,048 levels of pressure sensitivity.
The Cintiq Companion Hybrid is a similar tablet-device that runs Android 4.2 Jelly Bean, and features a Nvidia Tegra 4 Quad-Core Processor, a full-HD 13.3" display, and an included stylus with 2,048 pressure levels. It's called the Hybrid because you can use it as a stand-alone Android tablet, or plug it into a PC or Mac and use it as a traditional Wacom tablet.
The new Intuos Creative Stylus was designed specifically for the iPad. It's a Bluetooth stylus that enables you to rest your hand on the iPad's screen as you use it, and it, too, offers 2,048 pressure levels. It's compatible with the iPad 3, iPad 4 and iPad mini, and there are already several apps available that will support it, such as Autodesk SketchBook Pro, Ink and Express. It runs on a single AAAA battery for over 150 hours.
The New TiVo Roamio
TiVo announced their new Roamio line of DVR/cable box/media streaming devices this week. The Roamio series offers a very user-friendly integration of cable TV and internet services, and enables you to stream content to iOS devices. You can also stream content from mobile gadgets and watch them on your TV. The new line consists of the Roamio (which features 75 hours of HD recording capacity and four tuners), the Roamio Plus (which features 150 hours of HD recording capacity and six tuners), and the Romio Pro (which features 450 hours of HD recording capacity and six tuners).
